Love is in the Air

Love is in the Air

By May Tan

If you’re looking to celebrate your upcoming honeymoon, Myanmar has a few destinations for the occasion. Spice up your relationship with these attractions and have the ultimate adventure of thrill and romance!

Inle Lake

One of Myanmar’s top tourist destinations, Inle Lake has a serene beauty that will enhance the vigour of any relationship. The accommodation is top-notch, where you can stay in a lakeside villa or a guesthouse on stilts with an amazing lakefront view. Kayak out on the lake in the early morning to enjoy a peaceful moment with your partner among the glittering waters, coupled with a gleaming sunrise. Take in the rural beauty of the countryside as you embark on a boat tour to visit the surrounding villages or explore Sagar in the south to see sunken stupas.

Bagan

Bagan has hot air balloon rides that are sure to give you an enchanting experience for you and your partner. Enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and witness the glory of a rising sun in the morning mist as the entire town slowly comes to life. Some companies provide an extra touch to their services, such as in-flight photos or refreshments. Another magical option is to rent a bicycle and explore the maze of temples together, because there is so much to discover. Both of you definitely won’t be bored by this place teeming with so much culture and history!

Myeik

Water activities in the Myeik archipelago are always a top attraction for foreign tourists. The Emerald Heart Island has a lagoon shaped like a heart, which gives the inlet its name and is bound to captivate ‘hearts’ with its paradise-like seascape. From snorkelling in the pristine waters of the island and taking a luxury cruise around the coast, it doubles the fun when you experience them with your partner. Some tours give you the flexibility to explore by yourself, so delve into these clear blue waters with your partner in hand and venture into the underwater kingdom of corals and marine wildlife.

Dee Doke Waterfall

Take couple selfies at the Dee Doke Waterfall, accessible from Mandalay and Pyin Oo Lwin. The waterfall is an organic body of water within a natural formation of limestone and rock with turquoise waters. It has little caves in the corners and the water is filtered through natural means, casting a blue glow around the pool. Getting to the waterfall requires a quick hike through the forest, but its isolation from the city renders it an ideal location for couples who want some quiet time.

Ngapali Beach

Many couples have voted that a romantic walk by the beach is still the best way to spend a romantic evening. Thus, a glittering sunset with a cocktail in hand by the beachfront is what awaits you at Ngapali beach. A known tourist destination for couples, the calm vibe of the beach allows you to unwind and put your feet up to relax. If you’re looking for a laidback destination to simply enjoy each other’s company with fresh seafood and a beer in hand, then this beach is for you.

Yangon

The country’s former capital of Myanmar is a commercial hub that offers a great start to your honeymoon. With a blend of sparkling pagodas and colonial-era buildings of ancient architecture, it is a city of many sights. You can engage in a romantic night walk of the city to glimpse the gold wonder of Shwedagon Pagoda and Sule Pagoda. They are brightly lit at night and radiate a shimmering aura that will leave visitors entranced and end their night on a romantic note.

Myanmar has many vacation destinations that are suited for young couples looking to spice up their relationship with adventure, or married partners that have been together for a long time and wish to re-discover their love through sea and nature. Enjoy each other’s company in a romantic rove towards Myanmar!
