Walk Through Biggest Book

Kuthodaw Pagoda, Mahalawka Marazein, is located at the foot of Mandalay Hill in Mandalay and is rebuilt by King Mindon in 1857. We can meet the panoramic view of Kuthodaw Pagoda upwards of Mandalay Hill. There are 729 marble slabs in the compound in the pagoda and it is famous for the world’s largest book regarding as a selected item of the UNESCO World heritage site which is recorded in 2013. Each shrine includes one marble slab having 153cm height with the wide of 107cm and inscribed with the text of Tripitaka namely the Sutta Pitaka, the Vinaya Pitaka and Abhodhamma Pitaka on both sides. The white shrine lies in row around the compound of the pagoda with wide corridors to walk through. We can explore more experiences by walking along the walkways between slabs and also take the activity of putting Myanmar make-up called Thanaka. Kuthodaw pagoda is similar with the Sandamuni Pagoda containing many temples and pagodas in the compound. Mandalay Royal Palace, Mandalay Hill, Atumashi monastery, Sandamuni Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery are just near of Kuthodaw Pagoda. So, we can visit many pagodas by one time around the Kuthodaw Pagoda by taking with taxies or cars or others you like and notice that the daily opening time is 8AM until 8PM. Another one to notice is that as Myanmar has three seasons namely the hot season, the rainy season and the cold season, the best time to visit is between November and February because Myanmar has the cold season during November and February.
